A better living in the future environment is the common wish of the whole of humankind. Since most metropolitan cities are located in coastal regions, coastal engineering geology has become a major concern in human activities. Many engineering geological problems have been encountered in the process of planning, construction and service in coastal regions, such as land resources development and utilization, geo-environmental problems, geodisaster prevention and mitigation.

    In order to ensure sustainable development of coastal regions, the International Symposium on Coastal Engineering Geology (ISCEG-Shanghai 2012) aims to bring together academic scientists, leading engineers, industry researchers, and students to exchange and share their experiences and research results about coastal engineering geology.
